Coupling sleeves, also known as couplings, are essential components when using rock drills with male shank adapters and conventional drifter rods. They serve to join the adapter to the rod, ensuring the ends touch for efficient energy transmission. Couplings are also used to connect multiple rods together in the same manner.

These components feature a middle stop to prevent over-threading onto the drill rod. We manufacture both semi-bridge and full bridge coupling sleeves for percussive tools.

These tools are used when changing from one thread type or size to another and are typically required only in special circumstances.

R22, R25, R28, R32, R35, R38, T38, T45, T51

Two categories available:

• Standard coupling sleeves
• Adapter (crossover) coupling sleeves

By far the most popular type, featuring a small non-threaded bridge in the center. The drill rod cannot thread past the center of the couplings, and the smaller diameter rod portions butt together in the center bridge area. Semi-bridge couplings are most suited to high torque machines. Most rope (R) and Trapezoidal (T) threaded couplings are semi-bridged.

These couplings offer the significant advantage of positively eliminating the potential for the coupling to creep along the threaded joints. Typically used in Trapezoidal thread applications for surface drilling, they have better uncoupling characteristics and tend to maintain tighter joints. Full-bridge couplings have less chance of jamming and are best suited to machines equipped with independent rotation.
